Providence in a Box
Providence in a Box (PIB) is a unique program that enables U.S. churches and organizations to work with the local community surrounding La Providencia Orphanage to serve those in need. The mission of PIB is to share basic items with developing communities in need while keeping the dignity of the recipients by allowing them to shop at our Providence store only after they have worked at La Providencia Orphanage or the local community to serve and fill another community need. The volunteers are paid three times the local rate for their work in our own currency, Providenciales, and use the money to buy the donated items at our store. That way, the giver receives and the receiver gives simultaneously. And the Providence Children are able to further serve the community.
Here is how the program works:
We also are working to expand the use of the PIB program to other countries throughout the world, including the United States and others in Africa, South America, and Asia.
