Providence Medical Missions exists to address the medical needs of orphans and at-risk children in Honduras and throughout the world.
Because of the Pan American Highway trade route running through the middle of Honduras, among other things, approximately 20-30 percent of the Honduran orphan population is infected with the same AIDS virus that killed one or both of their parents. In addition, the 210,000 orphans, as well as the at-risk children population throughout the country have other medical conditions that require immediate and continuing treatment.
PWM, through the John Eaves Medical Center, a full-time physician, and partnerships with Sharing Resources Worldwide, churches (such as Christ Presbyterian Church and West End Community Church), and other organizations, we provide full-service medical care for La Providencia Orphanage’s Providence Children, all children in the local Siguatepeque community, and all orphans within the state of Comayagua (the state where La Providencia is located). In conjunction with the basic medical care provided, PWM serves children and adults throughout Honduras through medical missions teams that conduct orthopedic and eye surgeries. We have performed over 250 surgeries to date, and hope to perform surgeries of all types in the future. To that end, we already have plans to expand our services to Ear, Nose, & Throat; plastic surgery for burn victims; dental clinics; and heart care.
